Walgreens Boots Alliance gets 15% in Russia’s Pharmacy Chain 36.6

MOSCOW, Apr 11 (PRIME) -- U.S. pharmacy chain Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) has received a 15% stake in Russia’s Pharmacy Chain 36.6 after selling 100% of Alliance Boots Holdings B.V.’s shares to the Russian company’s unit Apteka-A.V.E., Pharmacy Chain 36.6 said in a statement on Monday.

Alliance Boots Holdings B.V. owns Alliance Healthcare Russia, which was the sixth largest pharmaceuticals distributor in Russia in 2015 with a 7.8% market share and sales amounting to 79.7 billion rubles with the value-added tax, business daily Kommersant reported earlier on Monday.

The deal is a part of Pharmacy Chain 36.6’s plans to expand wholesale segment of its business and increase the number and volume of direct contracts with producers of pharmaceutical products, the company said.
